Launched in 1998 with 80 students the Howard County Chinese School has been part of Howard County for almost two decades. HCCS is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious school established to promote Chinese culture and language through high-quality educational and cultural classes. The school also serves as a link between parents and the Chinese community.
The Horizon Foundation is leading community change so everyone in Howard County can live a longer, better life. We are committed to improving health through innovative initiatives, collaborative partnerships, strategic grantmaking and thoughtful advocacy.
Our mission is to enhance community health and well-being by fostering diverse connections between people and the natural world. Freetown Farm is located in Columbia, Maryland—a unique, planned community founded in 1967 by James Rouse, whose commitment to racial integration and openness set an example for the nation. From its inception, Columbia championed integration—across race, class, and faith. The city’s iconic “People Tree” statue embodies this vision of our inter-connectedness. Rouse described Columbia as “a garden for growing people.”[iv] At Freetown Farm we aim to honor the rich legacies in our soil.
The “Grow Together” Multicultural Community Gardening Project is an initiative to help support communities in need through gardening.
